Printer Setup on AIX machine

Steps Followed for Printer Setup on Client Machine.


1. Login as member of the administrator group on client machine.

2. Start control panel
3. Double Click in “Network” and select “Service” Tab.
4. Click Add, and Select “Microsoft TCP/IP Printing”.
5. Click OK and then Close.

6. Click “No” to Delay Reboot.

7. Configure TCP/IP Print Server to start automatically

8. Start the registry Editor

9. Move to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LPDSCVC\Parameters

10. From Edit Menu Select New – DWORD Value

11. Enter Name of “SimulatePassThrough” And Press Enter.

12. Double click the new value and set to 1. Click OK.

13. Close the Registry editor.

14. Start – Setting - Printers

15. Right click on printers to be used from Oracle Apps

16. Select Properties

17. Select Shared tab

18. Enter share name to be used in Unix Machine.

19. Select Security Tab.

20. Select Permissions, provide appropriate permissions to users or everyone.

21. Reboot the system.

Steps Followed for Adding Printer Queue on AIX Machines.

1. Execute Smitty using root user and select ‘print spooling’ option

2. Select ‘Add a print queue’ option from ‘print spooling’ menu.

3. Select ‘Remote’ as a attachment type.



4. Select “Local Filtering before Sending to print server” as a type of remote printing.



5. Select “Other” – “generic” as a Remote Printer Type.

6. Enter name of print queue, which will be used in Application in ASCII.
7. Enter name of Hostname, whose appropriate entry should be available in /etc/hosts file.

8. Enter shared name of printer installed in remote machine in Name of QUEUE on remote

server.

9. Type of print spooler on remote server should BSD.
